WebAdmin Features
The Atmail ArchiveVault contains powerful and flexible tools to help make administrative tasks easier. Features of the WebAdmin include multi-categorical searching, graphing, and utilities to control the handling of archived emails. Provide a web-based Administration interface to your customers, allowing them to view, manage and control their email archiving requirements.
Sub-Administration
ArchiveVault supports multiple Sub-administrators - Allowing you to delegate control of a selected domain or email address to another administrator. Upon login, the Subadmin can view messages in the ArchiveVault to only the domains or email addresses specified.
This feature is helpful for ISP customers who wish to deploy a single ArchiveVault instance mail-server wide - Control of select domains can be given to the customer, allowing them to view, manage and control their email archiving requirements.
Dashboard
The Dashboard is available within the Webadmin panel to display the statistics on the Archivevault server. Reports include:
- General statistics - Server load and uptime
- Disk usage - Amount of space used and available.
- Archive storage life - The number of estimated days left for message archiving. Based on the average email size received and the available storage left.
- Memory usage - The amount of used memory, cached and free available.
- CPU details - Speed and cache of the CPU available for Archivevault.
- Network usage - The amount of traffic sent/received on the network card.
Global settings
The global settings panel allows the administrator to define which domains-names are local and to archive messages for. An organization would define the primary domains required for email archiving.
Optionally a domain overwrite switch is available, which will archive any messages, regardless of the recipient domain-name.
SMTP server settings
ArchiveVault supports 2 modes of operation
- Post Delivery
This mode requires the existing MTA ( Exim, qMail, Postfix, Sendmail, Exchange, etc ) to send messages to Atmail post delivery. For example, after the recipient has received a message the MTA will forward a copy to the Archivevault server for delivery.
- Smarthost
The smarthost setup is used when an organization wishes to deploy Archivevault in front of their existing MTA - Much the same as a Anti-spam server. Archivevault is setup to receive all the incoming/outgoing messages, and will SMTP smarthost these messages back to the internal SMTP server.
This mode is one of the simplest to deploy - Archivevault is installed in front of your existing mail-server, MX records pointing to Archivevault, and messages are delivered in realtime to the existing mailserver. External clients such as Outlook can use the Archivevault server for outgoing SMTP to archive messages.
In addition administrator features include:
Max connections- Used to throttle the number of connections to the Archivevault server
Max connections per IP- Used to prevent denial of service attacks, or a single host consuming too many connections
SMTP load reserve- Used to throttle message delivery if load on the server reaches a specified value.
SMTP sync- Forces SMTP synchronization, if a remote client sends data before the SMTP banner out of of sync, the connection is automatically dropped. This feature is used to avoid zombie Spammer connections and non RFC compliant connections to the mail-server.
Queue processes- This setting is available to tune the number of processes which can handle inbound/outbound messages in the queue.
Version update
Archivevault includes a simple to use upgrade panel - When a new version of Archivevault is released, the administrator can upgrade by simply clicking the upgrade software panel, and to follow the onscreen instructions.
Appliance Configuration
In the appliance edition , ArchiveVault includes a network configuration panel in the web-interface. This allows the administrator to define the servers IP address, gateway, subnet and nameservers.
The appliance edition also includes the ability to restart services, reset and shutdown the server via the Webadmin panel.
