June 21, 2007
I’m pleased to announce that we now offer the Webmail-only demo version of @Mail specifically for OS X.
This is the first of many enhancements to the @Mail repertoire that you will see as a result of our adventure to San Francisco for Apple’s WWDC.
Behold, the beauty of the installer:

Video Blog - @Mail at WWDC
June 11, 2007
Hello from WWDC in San Francisco!
For this trip, I’ve created a proof-of-concept Video Blog Widget for OS X’s Dashboard:
http://atmail.com/@Mail_Video_Blog.zip

How does it work? Well, on the server-side, a script scrapes a user directory (when requested, if allowed access) and picks out all of the videomail links, then presents them with the date and subject of the videomail message, in RSS2 format.
So it’s easy to post a Video Blog message, we just send a videomail to the account being used as a “Video Blog” account in @Mail.
The widget consumes the RSS feed and flips over to show you the video blog entry when you click on one of the links. Check it out, it’s pretty cool.
Later we’ll work out a way to make the Video Blog feature available to anyone. For now, feel free to keep tabs on us as we post video blog entries throughout the conference. If you’d like to see yourself on the widget, use @Mail to send a Video Mail to videoblog@atmail.com. If we like it, it will get posted.
If you don’t have an @Mail account yet, you can sign up for a free one at:

If you’re curious about the server-side script, I’ve posted a topic on the forum about it:

@Mail 5.05 online
June 8, 2007
The latest @Mail release, version 5.05 is now available after 3 weeks of development from the previous release. View the changelog for a complete list of changes in 5.05
The patch is recommended for all existing PHP 5.X users to install and upgrade. This release includes approximately 40 changes, ranging from client feedback, improved Spamassassin performance via Exim for large messages, IMAP message flag support for IE, new “Personalities” feature via Webmail, and various optimizations to the source-code and backend functions.
The development team of @Mail’s goal is to continue working to refine the current 5.X release in PHP, and by July/Aug begin merging new features into the PHP version of @Mail. New features in development include:
- Developing a new unified “Advanced” interface in Ajax for IE/Firefox
- New Mac OSX support for server-mode/Webmail via a GUI installer
- Porting the latest release to Windows
- Integrating iCal support
- Improved Groupware features
- Live Webadmin graph reporting for system usage and traffic
- New Videomail features
In the meantime existing clients can install the latest 5.05 patch by following the guide at:
http://kb.atmail.com/view_article.php?num=1933
New evaluation versions are available for Linux, including the new release to “test-drive” via the online demo server.
We thank our clients feedback on the previous release, and look forward to improving @Mail with future patches.
@Mail at Apple Developer Conf - San Francisco
June 3, 2007
@Mail will be attending the Worldwide Apple Developer Conference in San-Francisco from June 11th to the 15th. Ben Duncan from the Australian HQ, Jason Brown and Corey Bissaillon will be attending on behalf of @Mail.
If any existing clients or prospects are attending, we’d love to meet up and share what’s new with @Mail.
The intention of the conference is to further develop @Mail under OSX with a native installer, integrate the software with iCal, interface with OS X Leopard’s new server functions ( calendaring & address book ) and to forge ahead with the Video-Mail feature of @Mail with Apple’s video technologies.
We are aiming to create an upgrade path for users on Apple Xserve to replace the default SquirrelMail with @Mail, and offer an enhanced Groupware platform for Apple customers.
Hopefully even speak to the right people at Apple to bundle @Mail rather then Squirellmail on all Xserve appliances!
