Monitoring your Atmail with Nagios

July 10, 2011

Uptime is one of our chief concerns. We work hard to keep our systems active, and we’d like to make sure that yours does as well.

So we made a System Monitoring document available for your use. If you want to be notified when something’s wrong with your system, check the following link:

Nagios is a stellar system monitoring tool that sends us emails and SMS messages when a service or host needs attention. The Atmail office has a dedicated Nagios server that everyone can see (and panic to):

We cut a hole in the drywall, and ran the wires out the back. A mounting bracket was added to set the screen at eye-level.

It connects to an idle Minimac on one of our desks. This allows us to have immediate access to the monitoring system in case of hardware failures.

And here’s Stewart, one of our support technicians, clearly delighted about something Nagios is reporting.

Zero problems? Now that’s something to smile about.
