  2. 2. Global Settings

Please refer to this document when you wish to use the ArchiveVault appliance or software as you would use in front of your existing mail-server ( much the same as a Spam firewall ). All of your incoming/outgoing messages will pass via the ArchiveVault server. The messages are then SMTP smarthost these back to your internal mailserver for delivery to the intended recipient.

1.  Server Mode

Go to ArchiveVault > WebAdmin > Admin > SMTP Settings > Server Mode = Smarthost

1.1  Options

  • Smarthost Domain = domain or ip of the internal mailserver

Specify the domain-name or IP address to forward all incoming messages received. This setting is required if the ArchiveVault appliance is installed in front of your active mail-server.

  • Allow Relay Hosts = specify IPs that can send outgoing messages via AV

Specify a list of IP addresses which are permitted to relay out via the appliance. Generally specify the IPs of your internal mail-servers which relay messages to non-local users.

2.  Global Settings

Go to ArchiveVault > WebAdmin > Admin > Global Settings > Local Domains

You need to specify which domains that you wish to archive to the ArchiveVault.
