January – June 2019 events we’re attending

1. Convergence India

• New Delhi, India
• 29-31 January

27 years after their first event in 1992, this event continues to grow into its slogan as “India’s leading Communications, Broadcast, IT and Technology Show”. 25,000+ visitors are expected, with 800+ exhibitors, 1,500+ delegates and 200+ speakers.

The three-day exhibition and concurrent conference sessions will highlight the latest trends and technologies in telecom, broadcast, cable and satellite TV, cloud and big data, IoT, digital homes, mobile devices, film and radio, content creation, management and delivery, and more.

2. NTCA Rural Broadband Association

• New Orleans, United States
• 3-6 February

Rural America’s largest annual telecommunications industry event takes place this year in New Orleans, with innovation and [re]inventing they key themes.

The agenda includes: trends; sales team success; performance testing; cyber threats; CEO roundtables; competitive expansion tactics; “show me the data”; tips for board members; evaluating new business ventures; connected communities; rural network economics; predicting the future; and more.

 

3. WISPAMERICA

• Cincinnati, United States
• 19-21 March

Bringing together internet service providers, industry experts and leading suppliers for the 7th year, this 3-day event will feature more than 50 interactive sessions, as well as “some of the brightest minds and hottest new innovations for the ISP world”.

The schedule includes: technical training; regulatory updates and how-to’s; business strategies; sales and marketing; human resources; “Animal Farm” (tech-heavy, vendor-specific sessions); co-located training and events; and more.

 

4. DevOps Talks Conference (DOTC)

• Melbourne, Australia
• 21-22 March

DevOps Talks Conference (DOTC) aims to bring together DevOps leaders, engineers and architects who are implementing DevOps principles and practices both in startups as well as enterprise companies.

DOTC is not a telco conference, but it’s on our list to attend this year because our tech team is committed to continuous learning and improvement.

 

5. Canwisp

• Ottawa/Gatineau, Canada
• 25-27 March

Not many details have been released yet for Canwisp’s 7th annual conference, but we’re signed up and looking forward to meeting you, if you’re joining Canada’s wireless internet service providers (WISPs) for this Ottawa/Gatineau conference in March.

 

6. Telecoms World Asia

• Bangkok, Thailand
• 26-27 March

With a theme of “Digital Transformation in Emerging Markets”, Telecoms World Asia tracks this year include: wholesale; telco 4.0; 5G; network virtualisation; IoT; AI and Big Data.

Their speakers this year are from companies such as: Deutsche Telekom; Reliance; NTT; Telenor Asia; Indosat Ooredoo; Korea Telecom; Telstra; Viber; Y.T.L.; Wave; iflix; Verizon; Aircel; Telkom Indonesia; Axiata Group Berhad; and more.

 

7. AWS Summit Sydney

• Sydney, Australia
• 30 April – 2 May

After we recently onboarded a large APAC telecommunications company – serving over half a million mailboxes – to a dedicated email service hosted in the Amazon cloud, we are keen to meet, learn from and/or help others move to Amazon’s cloud.

What’s it like to cloud email service on AWS?

Full details are yet to be released but AWS’s Innovation Day and AWS Summit Sydney in April-May, but AWS has announced a ‘Save the Date’ and we’ve marked our calendars to attend.

 

8. The Canadian Telecom Summit

• Toronto, Canada
• 3-5 June

Now in its 18th year, the theme at The Canadian Telecom Summit this year will be, “Converging networks: a foundation for innovation leadership”.

Speakers (including from Bell, Telus, CWTA, Xplornet, Ribbon and more) are starting to be listed here and the Summit’s in-depth panels this year will examine:
